I really appreciate your interest in Basque politics because, normally americans does not understand europeans. In fact, very often, americans does not understant american politics. But well, religion is a subject that americans understand quite well. The question is the following: some month ago the Spanish Supreme Court decided that official buidings shoud show the Spanish flag. And well, depite some political parties not agree, in particular de Basque Nationalist Party (EAJ/PNV), this decision entry in force automatically.
But well the Gorbea Cross is a religious place, not a official buiding. And, the flag is the main question, but not only, for us do not make sense show a militar force in a religiuos place. You see. Maybe it is quite different for some protestants ¿Are you protestant? ¿Presbiterian? ¿Baptist? Let us know.

Oh Lovelly. Spiritus Sancti Religion. Incredible, I am an expertise in etnology and religion and I never heard anything about that. It is supposed to be a very new religion.
I suprised, it is impossible to find an american that says to be non religious. In such a case you could understand (or not) the meaning of flags, society, politics and religion. Its is quite important in the Basque Country. During the Civil War the role of the Church in those years was realy important. Ask your friends. I am absolutelly sure that his/her parents will explain why we must be carefully with religions.
Also they could explain you why fter more than a 100 years, the Basque Nationalist Party expecially appreciate the Basque Flag.
